Nigerian Afrobeats stars Burna Boy and Wizkid received their awards on the Premier Ceremony which comes before the main Grammy Awards.

Burna Boy won the Best Global Music Album category while Wizkid won the Best Music Video for his song with Beyoncé; Brown Skin Girl.

Blue Ivy grabbed award for the Best Music Video for Brown Skin girls.

The Grammys described “Twice As Tall” as a masterclass in the vibe and hustle that have made Burna Boy an international musical force”.

For his acceptance speech, Burna Boy urges people to believe in themselves as he made mention that “Africa has landed” this is the first time a Nigerian has won in this category.

Burna Boy, age 29, biologically named as Damini Ogulu, was nominated last year for his African Giant album but lost it to Angelique Kidjo.

The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held in and around the Los Angeles Convention Center on March 14, 2021.

The award ceremony recognizes the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, running from September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020.

The nominations were revealed via a virtual live stream on November 24, 2020.

The performers for the ceremony were announced on March 7, 2021.  The event was hosted by South African comedian Trevor Noah.
